The previous two R&R’s I have gone diving at Busselton which is located 3-4 hours south of Perth.
The first R&R we dove the the Busselton Pier with friend Stacey. It was all of ours first dive without our training wheels, ie we hired our own gear and went ourselves with no divemaster. The Pier was perfect, as its only in 9 metres of water and its impossible to get lost as you have the 1.6km pier as a landmark.
We soon realised the reason people go on dive charters for the pier dive is because it saves them walking the whole 1.6 km pier in full gear, ie 5mm full length wetsuit, weight belt, full dive tank etc, under the watchful eye of the blistering sun. We couldn’t get in the water fast enough.
If your looking at the photos and wondering why I’m wearing a Hawaiian shirt, its because I was doing a profile photo for my best job in the world application.
The weekend just been Mandy and I went down again and did a dive charter out to the Swan wreck, which is a 114 metre retired Navy vessel that was sunk in 1997. I’ve only done 12 dives so far, but it is by far my favourite dive. Just amazing diving through the confined spaces and exploring the wreck.
Here’s some more photos from the Busselton Pier dive.
Stacey hanging out with the fishes in the deep blue sea.
One of the Pier pillars encrusted with coral.
Surfacing in the middle of a yatch race!
Here’s some photos from the wreck (quality isn’t the best)
A ray sun-bathing on the deck of the wreck.
Entering the wreck, oooohhhhhhh!
Mandy diving the shafts that used to be filled with seamen.
I might wait till I get to the surface!
