After a 19 hour over-night transiting mission involving two bus rides and a boat we arrived in Koh Tao. A welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, island living was waiting for us.
Koh Tao is known as a diving destination, but also is very popular with the backpackers. There’s a wide array of chilled out beach side candle lit bars with fire twirlers etc.
Mandy and I were quick to get set-up. We got a little bungalow located beside the beach at the dive centre where we planned to do our advanced open water certification. Our bungalow also came with a complimentary guard dog named ugly who uses our door step as a cat nap spot – do dogs take cat naps?
Well on the question buzz, who wrote the bible? And also, who gets the money from current publications of the bible? Sorry, just questions that came to me last night whilst in bed.
We had our first day of our advanced open water 2 day course today. Luckily we got a cool instructor and group, so looking forward to tomorrow where we have our deep dive (30m), nature dive (unfortunately this is not a naked dive, but rather learn about the fishes and habitat) and a night dive which I’m really looking forward to.
Enjoying the buzz of Koh Tao. We may even end up coming back and planting roots here for my dive masters. After talking to everybody, seems it’s way cheaper than down south, better lifestyle, and mainly because I could have arrived too late in the season to make the most of down south. But we intend to head south anyway and check it out, keep an open mind.
That’s me for the night, as have to be up at 6.30am tomorrow. Just thought I would update. Hope everyone is fine and dandy.

Haha, Korean war stories, no doubt they were entertaining. Hope all good in A-town.
